Logical Drive not on preferred path due to ADT/RDAC failover

Logical Drive not on preferred path due to ADT/RDAC failover

Cause: -

When a Fibre Channel switch fails or loses power, LUNs on the disk storage subsystems can show errors indicating that they are not on their preferred path. This causes errors to be shown in the Information Archive administrative interface

Faulty Hardware

The controller failed a manually initiated diagnostic test and was placed Offline.
There are disconnected or faulty cables.

A Hub or Fabric switch is not functioning properly.
A host adapter has failed.
The storage subsystem contains a defective RAID controller.

The message received mean the logical drive changed its preferred path intermittently.

What happens is that when a LUN is owned by a preferred controller and it failed over to the other controller, you get the error message.

We can manually change the preferred path for these volumes in the Storage manager using

Using Storage manager

Go To — > Storage and Copy Services — > Click on Array —> Choose the Logical Drive name: snapshot_dummy2 —> Select drive -> Right click -> Change -> Ownership/Preferred Path - > Controller in slot A.
