Installing Netbackup Enterprise Media Manager Server

Prerequisites:

1. Make sure your system has the tape drivers(SCSI or F/O) installed and can be managed by the system.
2. You need to install netbackup software with “root” user.
3. You need a NetBackup license to install media server.

Installation:

Insert NetBackup Server CD according to your Linux System and mount it


1. Start NetBackup installer

NOTE:  To install only NetBackup Client software locally on this machine or to load additional UNIX client software on this server, insert the NetBackup UNIX Clients cdrom.

The NetBackup and Media Manager software is built for use on LINUX_SUSE_X86 hardware.

NetBackup and Media Manager are normally installed in /usr/openv.

2. If you dont have “VRTSpbx” package installed, install that.

The following package(s) are missing and must be installed
before NetBackup can be installed:

VRTSpbx
The listed package(s) are part of the Symantec
Infrastructure Core Services (ICS) CDs/DVDs which
are included in the corresponding NetBackup media kit.
From a different window, unmount/eject the NetBackup cdrom and
insert/mount the ICS cdrom.  Make sure the ICS CD has been properly
mounted and files are visible.
Enter the full path name to the directory where the
appropriate installics script is located followed by
a <CR> to continue. This script will then install
the package(s).

Enter q to stop this install and abort.

3.Enter the NetBackup license key.

A NetBackup Server or Enterprise Server license key is needed
for installation to continue.

4. When asked for master server, type n as the answer, then enter the netbackup master server name when asked.

5. Enter Enterprise Media Manager server name (Dont enter anything if default is OK for you)

6. NetBackup services are installed and started.

Starting the NetBackup Event Manager.
Starting the NetBackup compatibility daemon.
Starting the Media Manager device daemon processes.
Starting the NetBackup Remote Monitoring Management System.
Starting the NetBackup Service Layer.
Starting the NetBackup Service Monitor.
File /usr/openv/tmp/install_trace.9827 contains a trace of this install.
That file can be deleted after you are sure the install was successful.
